LOCAL HISTORY
The Crooked Billet, Old Leigh

Taking its name from a boomerang-shaped tree branch, The Crooked Billet is the oldest pub on the High Street, and the only one that's not named after a shipping vessel. The 16th century tavern is a grade 2 listed building and boasts historic seafaring connections.

Southend is rich with interesting pieces of history and every week we dedicate a section of this newsletter to sharing that history with you. If you have suggestions for the next piece, reply to this email.
